The Skirmish on Wayland was a confrontation between Jedi and members of the Myneyrsh people following the sabotage of the Ossus Project at the hands of the One Sith and their ally, the rogue Shaper Zenoc Quah. Jedi Master Kol Skywalker had traveled to Wayland, a world that had been ravaged by the Yuuzhan Vong during the war and had remained plagued by creatures such as chrome-vrones, to oversee the implementation of the Ossus Project. The Project was a success, but six months later the Sith sabotage caused Wayland's native people, flora and fauna to mutate into vongspawn.

Blaming Master Shaper Nei Rin, Roax, leader of the Myneyrsh, demanded Skywalker to hand Rin over so she would face punishment. However, suspecting sabotage, Master Skywalker, alongside Wolf Sazen, Shado Vao and his own son Cade, managed to escape the planet, though their shuttle was severely damaged by vong-infected vines.

The Jedi ship nearly shut down and fell. However, a distress signal was answered by an Imperial Star Destroyer under the command of Moff Nyna Calixte.
