The Sky Battle of Quell was a battle that took place above a planet in the Quell system during the Clone Wars.

General Aayla Secura and Commander Bly's fleet was ambushed by several Confederate Munificent-class frigates, under the command of a tactical droid, over Quell. Secura requested reinforcements, and Admiral Wullf Yularen, General Anakin Skywalker, Commander Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex soon arrived aboard the Resolute.[4]

Skywalker, Tano, and Rex attempted to board Secura's ship, the Liberty,[5] aboard gunships, and Skywalker forged ahead, using one of the attacking rocket droids to land on the cruiser. However, Tano and Rex's gunship was ambushed by a rocket droid, and they crashed into Secura's ship. A second ship docked, a Consular-class frigate summoned by Skywalker for an evacuation, and the Jedi and clones were forced to fight their way to safety. On the way, the tactical droid commander ordered a full assault to be unleashed upon Secura's ship, though battle droids were still present on the enemy vessel. A raging inferno caused by ship damage rushed through the decks, wiping out all droids and killing all stationed troopers.[2]

The Jedi were spared from the explosion only after Skywalker sacrificed himself, using the Force to hold back the flames (and consequently, severely injuring himself) as Secura, Tano, and the clones boarded the frigate. Before the ship left, Tano was able to reach through and drag the unconscious Skywalker aboard with Secura's help. The Jedi attempted to dock with Yularen's flagship to obtain immediate medical attention for Skywalker, but after an assault by a few Vulture droids, they were forced to detach as they accidentally began the jump to hyperspace.[4]

The Jedi narrowly avoided hitting a star, but the speed they were traveling at caused them to crash land on Maridun. Tano and Secura were able to find medical help for Skywalker from the pacifist Lurmen colony. However, Separatist General Lok Durd later arrived on the planet to test a new weapon. Although the peaceful Lurmen were heavily opposed to fighting, even if it meant their own destruction, the Jedi managed to defend the colony.[1]
