George Lucas first mentioned Skywalker wine during Celebration V, when asked by Jon Stewart about the rarity of the name Skywalker, as an example of the name's relative ubiquity.[2]
Jon Stewart: "I always thought Skywalker name was somewhat unique? [Sic]"
George Lucas: "No, no, no, there's even the Skywalker wine."

This was likely intended as a reference to Francis Ford Coppola's Viandante del Cielo ("Walker of the Sky" in Italian) wine, which is made from grapes grown on Skywalker Ranch.[3] While Lucas also likely intended the existence of actual Skywalker wine in-universe to be a joke, Leland Chee, keeper of the Holocron continuity database, added it as a canonical beverage to the database.[1]
