Smelter droid

Smelter droids were droids programmed to operate in smelting factories, and were thus designed to be rugged and tough, with simple personalities and artificial intelligences programmed with little other than the required capacities.
Smelter droids were programmed for any smelting task, such as disintegrating droids, refining metal or forging weapons. A notable model of smelter droid was the 8D8 Smelting Operator, programmed for droid disintegration, and produced by Roche.
