Sonic rifles were the sonic analogue to the blaster rifles, capable of striking targets from a greater range than the heavy sonic blaster while still maintaining the same damage. They tended to be less powerful than conventional blasters, but they compensated for this by being more likely to pierce less advanced energy shields and disorienting their targets with sensory overload.
