"I have placed flowers on the gravesite of a good friend every year. I've tried several times already this year and I always seem to get turned back. Could you please take these flowers to the gravestone marked 'Shmi' at the old Lars homestead?"
―Sorna, to an unnamed spacer[src]

Sorna was an old woman who lived on the desert world of Tatooine. She was an old friend of Shmi Skywalker.

After Shmi Skywalker's death, Sorna placed flowers on her grave every year. At some point during the Galactic Civil War, she was unable to do so, thus she sent a spacer to the Lars homestead to do it for her.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Sorna was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.

There is a discrepancy between this storyline and Ryder Windham's novel, A New Hope: The Life of Luke Skywalker. In the novel, it was established that the gravestones on the Lars homestead had all been removed by Owen Lars before 15 BBY, so it shouldn't be possible for Sorna or the player to place flowers on Shmi's grave.
