The Southern Wastes were an area on the Ubese homeworld, Uba IV. Presumably, they were wastelands formed after the planet was bombarded during the Battle of Uba IV.

Circa 3 ABY, it was home to several Ubese clans, including Clan Vorsazg, a clan led by War-Master Savax. These clans, possibly with Hutt assistance, manned a flotilla of capital ships to attack the "yrak pootczk" Ubese of Ubertica. They managed to lay waste to several Ubertican cities before being destroyed by Imperial forces.
