A space elevator was a structure that could transport beings or material from the surface of a planet, into outer space without using spacecraft. The Quarzite space station used this method to travel to and from Quarzite, as the atmospheric pressure of their planet surface was so intense it could implode starships upon entry.
The Corellian Engineering Corporation Core Worlds Engineering Skyhook Platforms, such as the infamous Black Sun leader Prince Xizor's personal skyhook Falleen's Fist, were considered to be space elevators in terms of function.[1]
