[edit] Biography

Spang operated the largest repair bay on Tanquilla Beach during the early years of the New Republic. He was rumored to have a pipeline into the Empire's research and design labs, and was reputed as a genius engineer. Several times, someone tried to force Spang out of his position as top technician on the Beach. However, Spang had an ally in Bequesh; Spang had procured and installed the Beach's defenses, and anyone who tried to mess with him had Bequesh to deal with. Spang was always busy, and had a long list of ships waiting to be worked on.

When the crew of the FarStar tried to engage his services to repair their damaged hyperdrive engines, Spang refused to see them because he was too busy. However, the local infochant ConJob persuaded Spang to help them. He allowed his granddaughter, Fia, to do the work instead. During the course of the refit, Spang popped in from time to time to check the work. During one visit, he noticed that the programming of several "trapdoors" in the FarStar's computer system reminded him of work he encountered on Pembric II. He pointed the FarStar crew in the direction of Breslin Drake.

[edit] Personality and traits

Short and grubby, Spang was an old man with a beaming smile. The stereotypical mechanic, he was clad in greasy trousers and shirt, and his utility belt overflowed with tools. He had a tendency to get lost in his work, but was very protective of his granddaughter. Spang was friends with ConJob, and the two were drinking buddies.
