A special missions battalion was a formation of the Imperial Army.

A special missions battalion was the largest special mission formation within the Imperial Army, composed of four special missions companies and a battalion headquarters. The battalion numbered 746 men, supported by 88 speeder bikes. Unlike other battalion headquarters, special missions battalion command was expected to directly involved in combat operations. Support personnel were engineers who performed support operations once the situation had stabilized, the security platoon was staffed by experience soldiers, and the command staff were combat veterans.[1]

Special missions battalions could be augmented by the addition of four more special missions companies.[2]
