Spicebrew was a beverage served at Old Jho's Pit Stop, a cantina located in "Jhothal," a small outpost on the planet Lothal named after the watering hole's proprietor, an Ithorian named Jho.[1] The drink was favored by the Rodian Tsoklo, who slurped a cup of spicebrew on the fifteenth annual Empire Day, a celebration of the Galactic Empire's founding.[2]

Behind the scenes

Spicebrew first appeared in the Star Wars Legends novel MedStar II: Jedi Healer by authors Michael Reaves and Steve Perry,[3] released on September 28 2004.[4] It was an alcoholic beverage that able to be mixed with Sullustan gin and Old Janx Spirit to make a Sonic Servodriver,[3] though these details cannot be considered canon.

The beverage was confirmed to be canon by "Empire Day,"[2] the sixth episode of the canon animated series Star Wars Rebels' first season,[5] which was first released on demand on November 10, 2014 and made its broadcast debut the following week on Disney XD on November 17, 2014,[6] though it would only be identified as such in Ezra's Duel with Danger, an adaptation of the Star Wars Rebels episodes "Empire Day," "Gathering Forces," and "Path of the Jedi." The junior novel was written by Michael Kogge,[1] and was released as part of the Star Wars Rebels chapter books series on March 17, 2015.[7]
