It was called so because of large exposed structural rib sections that were visible to both sides. Numerous independent merchants and traders had set up shops and offices along the passageway. A few privateer groups and bounty hunter organizations also maintained offices at select locations along the Spine Passage.
The primary means of locomotion was walking, but the occasional hover scoot was sometimes seen. In some parts of the passageway, the Geelan, who controlled the space station, had constructed multi-floor sections to and walkways to provide even more floor space.
The Spine Passage provided a varied mixture of merchants of all kind of species dealing in a multitude of interstellar commodities including everything from legal goods to slaves and the like.
