Characteristics
Edit
Spinnaker was one of the planet Naboo's largest supply centers, with a nearby navy and Trader's Plaza. A small village was also nearby. A road also linked Spinnaker with the Naboo capital, Theed. At least one Fortress protected the city.
History
Edit
Nute Gunray needed to fund the Invasion of Naboo, so he ordered OOM-9 to raise 10000 nova crystals by destroying Spinnaker's Spaceports. OOM-9 started off by attacking the Naboo village and claiming it for the Trade Federation. The villagers surrendered, and the village was theirs. Another droid, YIN-762, operated a nearby camp which OOM-9 traded with to gain more resources. Soon, OOM-9 invaded the city and the spaceports were destroyed. OOM-9 then went on the road to Theed.
It was later freed by Boss Rugor Nass and the Gungan Grand Army prior to the Battle of Naboo. However, it was hardly recognizable due to the massive damage it had sustained from Trade Federation forces and was little more than burning ruins, far from its original glory.
Behind the scenes
Edit
Spinnaker first appeared in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds during the Trade Federation and Gungan campaigns. The game's campaign was later included in its 2002 expansion, Clone Campaigns.
