A sponsorship chip was a form of identification chip, used to verify that the bearer worked or was being sponsored by the organization that they claimed they were. The Cantonican Planetary Control demanded them of incoming tourists. Kedpin Shoklop, on a vacation he had won from his employer, VaporTech, got into trouble at the Canto Bight customs because he did not have his sponsorship chip.[1]
