Ssyrmik was one of Chief of State Leia Organa Solo's Honor Guard during her meeting with Seti Ashgad, where she died of the Death Seed Plague. She was a female Lieutenant, a graduate of the New Republic Space Academy and some times made Leia feel as if she were old.
