- "Artoo, that stabilizer's broken loose again. See if you can't lock it down."
- ―Luke Skywalker, during the Battle of Yavin
Stabilizers were starfighter components designed to stabilize the craft's power flow into the engines. Incom Corporation's T-65 X-wing starfighter used a phi-inverted lateral stabilizer.[1]
Stabilizers were used on many air vehicles and starfighters, including the V-19 Torrent starfighter, the Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft, the T-16 skyhopper, the T-65 X-wing starfighter, the RZ-1 A-wing interceptor, and the E-wing escort starfighter. They were used to stabilize the craft from veering out of control.
Types of stabilizers included the flux stabilizer, ion flux stabilizer, phi-inverted lateral stabilizer, vortex stabilizer, and 4-axial stabilizer.
On swoopbikes, the stabilizer extended out from the front of the vehicle and often appeared as a fin, foil or bar.
