The stalking bird was a species of flightless reptavian predator with long neck and legs native to the planet Alderaan. They were known to flush out their prey by walking together in formation, spearing animals as they fled the grass before them. Unfortunately, the species became extinct when Alderaan was destroyed by the first Death Star.
