"That mob of animals accosted the Star Jewel during the layover on Nar Haaska. Superficial damage to the landing gear and hull plating only, but more than enough for Jabba to notice."
―Bib Fortuna[1]

The Star Jewel was a starship manufactured by Ubrikkian Industries that was owned by the crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure during the Imperial Era.[1] At some prior to or during 3 ABY,[3] Jabba's majordomo Bib Fortuna was on board the vessel when it made a layover stop on the world of Nar Haaska, where the shipjacker Bandit Billie and her crew of Taurill attempted to steal the ship.[1]

The attempt was unsuccessful, with Billie being injured by a Gamorrean vibro-ax, but did cause superficial damage to Star Jewel's landing gear and hull plating. Knowing that Jabba would notice the damage, Fortuna had the ship's course changed to the world of Keldooine to be repaired at the Keldooine Starshipwrights. En route, he made note of the attempted theft in the book known as the Smuggler's Guide, which he had taken from Billie and intended to judge the value of while traveling.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

In the new Star Wars canon, the Star Jewel was introduced in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, which was written by Daniel Wallace.[1] The ship originated in Star Wars Legends, where it was created for the 1995 video game Star Wars: Dark Forces.[4]

  3. The entry in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide that mentions the Star Jewel takes place prior to Han Solo encountering a bounty hunter on Ord Mantell, which is mentioned as having occurred prior to the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the Battle of Hoth to 3 ABY; therefore, the entry in the in-universe book Smuggler's Guide must have been written prior to or during this year.
