The Star Saber XC-01 Starfighter was a highly experimental starfighter created c. 4,000 BBY by Republic Fleet Systems.

Cay Qel-Droma and Dace Diath helped test these fighters in the hopes of saving Ulic Qel-Droma, but it soon became apparent that their maneuvering difficulties would prevent them being effective weapons against the Krath defenses in Cinnagar. Since the Stingers were not many enough to protect the Onderon warbeast transport, Dace Diath still chose to use one, coming out of attack formation, and almost crashing his second.[3]
The fighter production line continued for years after the war, until the Aurek tactical strikefighter was chosen as its successor-design. Once production began on the successor, the XC-01 line was stopped.[2]
