[edit] Behind the scenes

Following Dark Horse's introduction of Nom Anor in Crimson Empire II, they had planned to do a massive comics arc (in similar style to their later Clone Wars arc in Star Wars: Republic) detailing a Galactic invasion by a species (rumored to be either beings made of liquid or energy) from the Unknown Regions, of which Nom Anor was an advanced scout. The death of Chewbacca was planned to occur early on, but other than that, nothing was known for sure.

Lucasfilm, while impressed by the idea, gradually decided to turn it over to their book division, where it eventually became the New Jedi Order series. When they saw what little involvement they would have in the series that they had developed, Dark Horse opted out almost altogether, retaining only the Chewbacca death story—which, after being transferred to Vector Prime, became this tribute comic.

Crow T. Robot of the cult program Mystery Science Theater 3000 makes an appearance as one of the scrapped droids when Jaina is abducted by a crazed droid in Star Wars: Chewbacca 4.
