The Star Wars: Return of the Jedi video game debuted in video arcades in 1984. Levels in the game are set during the attempt to rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt's palace (Luke Skywalker vs. the Rancor), the Battle of Endor (Luke on speeder bike), and the attempt to destroy the Death Star (flying in the Millennium Falcon as Lando Calrissian). During the recording of the player's records on the high score, the Ewok song will play in the background.
The game was later ported to home platforms including Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum. It also appeared in the Arcade mode of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, like the other two Arcade games Star Wars: The Arcade Game and The Empire Strikes Back. Unlike those two, however, it can't be unlocked by regular means, and requires a two-part passcode to unlock. The passcode is "!?ATH!RD GAME?YES".
