Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed is a documentary about the impact the original 1977 Star Wars film has had upon society and filmmaking, with a focus on the place of the series in the continuum of cultural mythology. The two-hour program debuted on The History Channel on May 28, 2007, coinciding roughly with the 30-year anniversary of Star Wars. It featured interviews with journalists, filmmakers, critics, academic experts, and politicians, including Newt Gingrich, Tom Brokaw, J.J. Abrams, Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith, Joss Whedon, Dan Rather, and Nancy Pelosi.
It was the #1 highest rated History Channel program among viewers aged 18-49, and #2 among viewers aged 25-54,[1] and was nominated for three Emmy awards.[2]
