Plot summary[]

FROM THE JOURNALS OF OLD BEN KENOBI
While searching for answers in his quest to become a Jedi, Luke Skywalker has uncovered a Journal written by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Journal details Kenobi's adventures while watching over young Luke on Tatooine, including when Jabba the Hutt hired the Wookiee Black Krrsantan to hunt Obi-Wan down for defeating his thugs during the Great Drought. What follows is an excerpt from that Journal.

The journal starts off a year after the Great Drought where Pagetti Rook and Klatooinian guard take the Wookiee bounty hunter Black Krrsantan to the Dune Sea where Obi-Wan Kenobi stopped Jabba's water tax. Rook told Krrsantan about how five of Jabba's saltiest warriors were taken down while not one of them saw the man who did it. Krrsantan roared and started off towards the moisture farm in front of him.

At the Lars Homestead, Owen Lars just recently returned from Tosche Station with some T-16 skyhopper parts. He looks for his nephew, Luke Skywalker in hopes of repairing their busted speeder with him and mend their already strained relationship. All of a sudden, as Owen calls out to his wife Beru, Krrsantan kidnaps him.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Owen, Luke had run away from home with the intention of going to Mos Eisley and getting off of Tatooine. He didn't make it that far as he sensed something was wrong. He ran back to the homestead to find the place a mess and his aunt Beru wounded on the floor with a rifle. Luke asked her what happened and where uncle Owen was. She told him that it took him and ordered him to hide in the maintenance bay until he heard her voice.

Continuity[]

Star Wars: Timelines[4] and Star Wars Helmet Collection 66 place Star Wars (2015) 20 in 10 BBY.[5] However, Obi-Wan Kenobi establishes that Kenobi has not used the Force in a long time, and additionally features Owen Lars visibly younger than his appearance in Star Wars 20.[6] As Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place in 9 BBY,[7] Star Wars 20 cannot take place in 10 BBY.

  2. Star Wars (2015) 7 takes place a year before Star Wars (2015) 15, which is set immediately before Star Wars (2015) 20. In these comics, Owen Lars is visibly older than his appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which takes place ten years after Order 66. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith in 19 BBY, meaning that Obi-Wan Kenobi is set in 9 BBY and this is the earliest Star Wars (2015) 7 can take place. However, Star Wars LINE Webtoon: Chapter 2—"Meeting the Droids" depicts Obi-Wan Kenobi visibly older than his appearance in the aforementioned comics; Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition states that Luke Skywalker was twelve years old in the Webtoon chapter, and since he was born during Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, he was twelve in 7 BBY and this is the latest the comics can take place. Therefore, due to the year-long gap, Star Wars (2015) 7 is set in either 9 BBY or 8 BBY, and Star Wars (2015) 15 and Star Wars (2015) 20 both take place in either 8 BBY or 7 BBY.
