Star Wars: Chronicles is a massive reference book published by Chronicle Books. It contains an extensive collection of Star Wars photography including a wealth of behind the scenes and pre-production photography. It is the predecessor to Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels.

The book is structured according to the sequence of the Star Wars movies starting with Star Wars: A New Hope and ending with Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Other Star Wars endeavors such as The Star Wars Holiday Special, Ewoks and Droids cartoons, book and comic publishing, and the Star Tours adventure ride are also included.

Much of the content has never been published before and offers an insight into the design process. There is extensive coverage of costumes, vehicles, puppets/animatronics, and behind the scenes images. In addition, each chapter ending includes a timeline of real-world events for each movie from pre to post production.

It should be noted that because this book was published before the Special Edition of the Original Trilogy none of the recent movie additions are included.

Chronicle Books republished "Star Wars Chronicles" in September of 2005 a few months prior to the November 2005 release of "Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels".
