Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a Mighty Chronicles adaptation of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace written by John Whitman and published by Chronicle Books in April 1999. Based on the story by George Lucas, it contains 150 2-color illustrations following the storyline in a small 3½" x 4" hardcover format.
Differences from the film

- Jar Jar's run in with Sebulba in Mos Espa is omitted. Instead, when the group meets Anakin in the streets of Mos Espa, he immediately tells them about the sandstorm and they take shelter in his home.
- The book ends immediately after Obi-Wan tells Anakin "You will be a Jedi, I promise."
- Mace Windu and Yoda discussing whether Darth Maul was the Sith master or apprentice is omitted.
- The Naboo celebration is omitted.
