Star Wars Flu
The Star Wars Flu, also known as Wookiee Hookie, Darth Vader Virus, or Sith-itis, has become the term for when thousands upon thousands of fans leave their responsibilities to see a Star Wars movie. The most famous example is the frenzy that occurred prior to and immediately after the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
The term "Wookiee Hookie" generated from a National Public Radio broadcast on May 19, 2005, the theatrical release date of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. More specific than "Star Wars Flu", it is defined as the act of skipping school or work to go see a theatrical release of a Star Wars movie.
