Star Wars Hyperspace
Star Wars Hyperspace is the Official Star Wars Fan Club. It was given its current name in 2004 when it merged with the subscriber feature of StarWars.com, the official Star Wars website.
The Club requires a regular subscribers fee for membership. Membership givers subscribers special privileges. Members are given exclusive access to a special Hyperspace section of the official Star Wars site. Members that lived in the United States used to get a free subscription to the Star Wars Insider magazine, but they no longer get that perk. Hyperspace members are able to create a large range of Star Wars avatars that appear on any of their blogs and posts on the forums. Fan Club members are also given the exclusive use of the Star Wars Blogging tool.
Members can also get discounts and other offers for Star Wars products and memorabilia. These offers become available from time to time.
The members of the fan club also have access to write entries for the databank on the Star Wars site.
On May 5, 2010, StarWars.com announced that the Hyperspace Fan Club would be discontinued in 2011. The week of June 20th the 2010 membership packets began shipping.[1]
