Star Wars and other Galactic Funk

The album cover

Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk was an album produced in 1977 by Meco, who would later also produce the equally famous Christmas in the Stars.

Content and musical genreEdit

Apart from the fifteen-minute medley of disco versions of themes composed by John Williams, the album contained an original disco-funk tune called "Other Galactic Funk," which was composed by Harold Wheeler and Solomon Smith.

The music primarily falls within the funk and disco genres, teeming especially with disco clichés. However, the "Cantina Band" sequence is more jazzy and there is a sequence of harmony twin guitars, which is typically associated with hard rock and classical heavy metal.
