Stormtrooper commanders were commanders who led Imperial stormtroopers into battle.[1] They were given an advanced ARC training which gave them sharper minds compared to the average stormtrooper, and were still as loyal.

The armor of stormtrooper commanders typically was superior to standard Stormtrooper armor, with sets often being equipped with Personal energy shields to offer increased protection.[1]

Most clone stormtrooper commanders wore the same uniform as their troopers did, with an exception being the Imperial sandtrooper, in which case a commander rank was shown through a sandtrooper's pauldron[2] and stormtroopers stationed on Felucia and Raxus Prime in 2 BBY, who had distinct blue markings on their armor. It is unknown, however unlikely, that the markings meant affilation to 501st Legion.[1]

A stormtrooper commander led a typical squad of stormtroopers, but they could advance into an Imperial officer's rank if they showed potential. Another common name or rank of a stormtrooper commander was Stormtrooper Officer.
