A stun baton was a non-lethal short-range melee weapon that immobilized organic targets with a powerful electrical shock. It required the user to physically touch the target in order to immobilize them effectively. It is dated to be used back during the Jedi Civil War.
It was usually used as a crowd-control weapon, or in place of more powerful weapons by the security forces of the Core Worlds such as those on Corellia and those working for the Metatheran Cartel[1] or Nirama[2]. In contrast, slavers organizations such as the Mytaranor Slaving Council used them to a more lethal effect.[3] Some brawlers would use them in melee combat to increase their attack power.
It is rumored that during the Galactic Civil War, there existed material to build stun batons with incredible power in a Geonosian Bio-Lab, supposedly hidden on Yavin 4.
