Sun beetles were large insects that were the size of banthas that lived on the world of Kubindi and raised by the native Kubaz. They were considered beasts of burden in the past until such duties were taken over by droids and other forms of machines.

Among some criminal circles, there existed staged sun beetle fights but these were considered illegal.
