Supreme Commander (Republic)

Supreme Commander was the title given to Chancellor Palpatine after the Senate enacted the Security Act. It gave him constitutional authority over the Republic Armed Forces, stripping it away from the Jedi and the Senate. This authority allowed Palpatine to remain as commander-in-chief as Galactic Emperor and to issue Order 66.
