Luke Skywalker attended a survival school during his youth on Tatooine, where he was taught to view dangerous situations as objectively as possible. He attempted to use this thinking during a confrontation with the Tusken Raider URoRRoR'R'R, though he found he was unable to bring these teachings to bear, and instead fainted in the face of danger.
One of the more notable of these organizations was the Galactic Outdoor Survival School founded by Barosa Warren on the planet OM813. It ensured students learned survival skills in environments that would pose a challenge to their species' particular physiology; for example, a Mon Calamari student would learn how to survive in arid areas such as deserts.
