Synthcubes were introduced in the 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic. If a male smuggler player character chooses to set free Ivory—a criminal under the Galactic Republic who was imprisoned on the planet Belsavis—and selects flirting dialogue options with Republic Marshal Kay Cavarat in the game, an angry Cavaret would rant that she ought to beat up and imprison the smuggler in a cell and cut him down to synthcubes and water. The impassioned Cavaret then slaps the smuggler in the face before kissing him and taking him to bed.
