"This is taking too long. Destroy that cruiser!"
"But sir, there are still hundreds of droids on board!"
"I don't care."
"Roger, roger."
―A T-series tactical droid and a B1 battle droid[src]

The T-series tactical droid was a model of tactical droid manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata. They were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems to coordinate their droid army during the Clone Wars.

The T-Series Tactical Droid played the roles of war advisor as well as war generals. The T-series was designed to create winning battle strategies throughout the earlier parts of the Clone Wars, later being replaced by the more advanced Super tactical droid. They were very time oriented, saying things like “…we have a schedule to keep”[4] and “This is taking too long!”[5]. These droids were known to be arrogant and disrespectful, belittling those below themselves. So much so, that they were known to sacrifice their own troops for a victory[5]. Their selfishness can be seen when TA-175 leaves Wat Tambor on Ryloth after the Republic Military captures the main city. Although they were selfish, their loyalty was to Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, not to the general they were serving under; because as said by TA-175: “we have our orders…”.[4]

The programming within these droids was severely flawed; the overconfidence in the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the slow processing of surprises from the enemy and the inability to be flexible with seeing or using plans other than their own. They were more number oriented than their successors, whom relied much more on the feelings and thoughts of their victims to make a plan; the T-Series Tactical Droids can be heard offering the probability of an event occurring to their commander/leadership. These droids were programmed with knowledge of Jedi tactics as well as individual Jedi and their profiles. This information became useful when TX-20 utilized prisoners from a village on Ryloth as “living shields”[6], calculating that he thought “ the Jedi will not risk the prisoners safety with a direct assault.”[6]

History

"The general's description of your tactics have been one hundred percent accurate today. Very impressive, even by my standards."
TV-94 on General Grievous' description of Anakin Skywalker[src]

At least three tactical droids were used by the Separatists during the Battle of Christophsis. Admiral Trench had a tactical droid aboard his command ship who controlled shield usage and acted as a tactical advisor.[7] Another tactical droid commanded the Separatist's ground forces as they foiled the Republic's ambush, before it had its head stolen by Gus to discover how the CIS knew the Republic's strategies. Asajj Ventress later dispatched another tactical droid to give orders to General Whorm Loathsom while she left to continue her master's plan.[3]

Behind the scenes

The word 'tactical' was written along the side of at least one tactical droid's head in Aurebesh.[3]
