A Republic Commando T-visor.

A T-visor was the main visor of a helmet, named for its resemblance of the letter "T". They were used in the helmets of various Mandalorian armor and in all models of Clone trooper armor. T-visors could be customized to meet the needs of the user, for example, Clone commando visors were blue and other's included automatic recording capability.

In addition to the protection they provided, T-visor helmets could include extra functions to augment the user's performance. A few of these functions include:

  • A Head Up Display (HUD) added information relevant to the user's needs. An example of this was Jango Fett's helmet which had a built in scanner to identify potential bounties. Republic Commando helmets included a tracker to locate mission objectives, targets and squad mates.
  • A built-in comlink, eliminated the need to carry an external comm device that could be appropriated and used by potential enemies.
  • Night vision enhancements such as infrared lenses or image intensifiers.
