T7-O1 was a T7 astromech droid constructed and active around the time of the Great Galactic War, surviving into the Cold War. By the time of the latter, his memory banks hadn't been erased in over 200 years, giving him a strong personality with some arrogant quirks. T7 was known for a fierce independent streak and his candid attitude, and would put himself in danger if he could save his more fragile organic allies. T7-O1 was originally created as a repair and pilot droid, but his extensive experience gave him abilities that could be used in combat. Among his many experiences, T7-O1 survived the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and joined up with Jedi Knight Aryn Leneer and her smuggler acquaintance Zeerid Korr on their mission to hunt down Darth Malgus, the Sith Lord responsible for the Temple's destruction. During his long career, T7-O1 passed through the hands of many owners, including Jedi Master Ven Zallow, Senator Oodora of Manaan and Captain Nico Okarr.[1][2]

BiographyEdit

Great Galactic WarEdit

T7-O1 was constructed at some point prior to the beginning of the Great Galactic War in 3,681 BBY. During the period between his construction and the start of the war, T7-O1 entered the service of smuggler Nico Okarr and served as his aide on the ship, keeping it repaired and functional. Nico Okarr and T7-O1 were eventually captured and held by Republic forces over the Sith homeworld of Korriban after attempting to smuggle Sith artifacts off-planet. Their capture proved to be short-lived however, and T7-O1 was witness to the start of the Great Galactic War as the Sith Empire began their offensive to retake Korriban while the smuggler was being detained. As the smuggler's ship was the only one fast enough to escape the Sith fighters, Jedi Knight Satele Shan and her master decided to use it to escape in order to warn the Republic. T7-O1 had been on-board the ship performing maintenance as the hangar came under assault by Sith forces, and the smuggler instructed him to prepare the ship's weapons in preparation for their escape. The smuggler and his passengers, including T7-O1, were ultimately able to escape their pursuers and bring word to the Republic of the oncoming Sith threat.[3]

Serving the JediEdit

Aryn Leneer: "It was Master Zallow's droid."

T7-O1 left the smuggler's service at some point after their escape from Korriban and eventually gained a new owner in Jedi Master Ven Zallow, and began working in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. While serving Zallow, T7-O1 was also a witness to the end of the Great Galactic War and was present during the Sacking of Coruscant led by Sith Lord Darth Malgus. When Darth Malgus led the Sith assault on the Jedi Temple, T7-O1 was present as Master Zallow engaged the Sith forces and warned the Jedi Master as Darth Malgus approached. Zallow was eventually slain by Malgus and T7-O1 was left inside the Temple as it was destroyed by the Sith.[4]

T7-O1 managed to survive the destruction of the Temple by fleeing to secret underground passages which led to The Works, although the droid received a significant amount of damage. T7-O1 later returned to the Temple ruins in hopes of finding survivors, but was only able to recover Zallow's lightsaber. Upon returning to the secret passage, the droid encountered Ven Zallow's Padawan, Aryn Leneer and her companion Zeerid Korr. Leneer was investigating the circumstances of her Master's death, and was attempting to enter the Temple in order to access the security records. T7-O1 helped her reach the security recordings and played them back for her, and she learned that Darth Malgus had slain Zallow. The droid subsequently accompanied Leneer as she set out to avenge her Master's death. Leneer eventually gave up her pursuit for revenge after a failed attempt to assassinate Darth Malgus and she settled down on Dantooine with Korr. T7-O1 was last seen in her possession but did not accompany her to Dantooine, and the droid eventually returned to serve the Jedi.[2] [5]

When the Jedi Order left Coruscant after the destruction of the Temple, T7-O1 accompanied them to the Order's homeworld of Tython. There, he served as a reconnaissance droid for the Order, until he was captured by Flesh Raiders and locked inside a weapons cache. He was freed by a certain Jedi Knight, and accompanied him on the Knight's journeys across the galaxy.

Behind the scenesEdit

T7-O1 is a companion character for the Jedi Knight class of Star Wars: The Old Republic.[5]

One of the Aurebesh phrases on its holonet page translates as "The Exploding Starships Conspiracy". A second phrase translates to "accidental slaver", and the last phrases seems to read "Flesh raider collectable".
