The TC-17 was a long-range blaster rifle equipped with a scope and designed for use by snipers. The rifle had a range of over three-hundred meters. Each power cell held enough energy for ten shots before it needed to be replaced.

During the New Sith Wars, at least one unit within the Brotherhood of Darkness' Sith army used TC-17 rifles. In 1,002 BBY, the unit known as the Gloom Walkers was assigned four TC-17s, one for each squad within the unit participating in the Battle of Phaseera. Sergeant Dessel, a former cortosis miner from the planet Apatros, used one of the rifles, which he took from fellow Gloom Walker Lucia, to kill several Galactic Republic soldiers during the battle.

The TC-17 blaster rifle was featured in the novel Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, written by Drew Karpyshyn and released on September 26, 2006.
