The TT-40 librarian droid was a library droid produced by the TelBrinTel Corporation for use in retrieving information. It was given little data storage capacity, as it was designed to provide information on a by-request basis. The TT-40 was equipped with a wide, repulsorengine base that supported a switchboard assembly. Using a TelBrin Tel proprietary interface, the TT-40 stored incoming data on a trio of data wheels which spun as the droid worked. TT-40 droids were prohibitively expensive early in their production, but were often subsidized by governmental programs to further education.
