The tach was a small prosimian-simian creature native to the planet Kashyyyk. It was harmless and more or less a curious creature to newcomers. It was most likely preyed upon by the katarn. They are very annoying creatures that give a type of yelp.

Tachs were harmless except when a person was sprayed with a mist of tach essence. Tachs in the surrounding area would then become enraged and attack them. Tach essence was used to lure the Tachs so that a hunter could kill it and take a gland from near its brain.

Tach glands had all sorts of chemical properties. When powdered, they made an excellent stimulant, and they were also the main ingredient in Tarisian ale. Mission Vao's brother, Griff needed tach glands to make this Tarisian ale to pay his debts to an Exchange crime lord, but was unsuccessful.
