Tales from Wild Space: "Family Affair, Part 1" is a comic story focusing on Lando Calrissian that was published as the secondary story of Star Wars Adventures (2017) 10 on May 9, 2018.

Plot summary[]

On the Star Herald in the outer reaches of the galaxy known as Wild Space, CR-8R "Crater" finished telling BB-00 "Boo" a story about a heist in Canto Bight involving an outlaw. Emil Graf told Crater that the life of an outlaw is more than he thinks and asked him if he had ever heard of Lando Calrissian.

Many years earlier,[3] Lando Calrissian assured the businessman, Tonee that he was no longer a outlaw and was ready to cut a deal with him, calling for a toast for no more trouble in his life. But then the Nautolan, Clariah called him over, in need of help. They took a seat and Clariah told him what was going on. Her son, Jiandy refused to go to school, he hangs out with individuals she does not like and wants to start a galactic gang that will rival Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire.

Meanwhile, Clariah son went over and asked to gamble with a group of strangers. Chlariah wanted Lando to help turn her kid around and promised to give back his cape made of Alderaanian Azure cotton and Cantonican golden silk. Lando declined her offer, telling her that he has to run his business.

Back with the strangers, Jiandy won his game and angried the two other individuals but blamed it on the Rodian Gork. He went back to his mother who was very disappointed in what he did. Lando finally agreed to help out Clariah.

Lando and Jiandy left and started to wander the streets of Cloud City. Jianby questioned why Lando he left being a smuggler when there was many good things about being a smuggler. But Lando told him that not even a million credits would convince him to return. They reached an alleyway and ducked for cover. At the alley, the crime lord, Askroh was interrogating Tudd for smuggling Alderaanian white. Jiandy looked over and noticed an expensive pin located on Askroh's shirt. Lando tried to stop him, but Jiandy ran around to dumpster. He jumped from the dumpster to a roof above Askroh and snatched the pin off the crime lord before he could notice. But before they could leave, Askroh and his gang stopped him, telling Lando and Jinaby they had made a mistake.

Notes and references[]

  1. IDW Publishing Solicitations for May 2018 on www.cbr.com (February 21, 2018) (archived from the original on November 7, 2018)
  2. As shown in "The Lost Stories, Part 3," the events of all the Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Wild Space comics are set a relatively short time apart. "Tales from Wild Space: The Best Pet" depicts CR-8R being aware of the events following those of Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, and "The Lost Stories, Part 1" features the First Order. The Star Wars Book places The Last Jedi thirty-four years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and the fall of the First Order thirty-five years after A New Hope, which, according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, corresponds to 34 ABY and 35 ABY, respectively. Therefore, the Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Wild Space comics must take place at some point between those years.
  3. 3.0 3.1 Tales from Wild Space: "Family Affair, Part 1" takes place in between Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide places Solo: A Star Wars Story nine years after the founding of the Galactic Empire. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates that event to 19 BBY, and also dates Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back to 3 ABY, meaning Solo: A Star Wars Story takes place in 10 BBY and Tales from Wild Space: "Family Affair, Part 1" takes place between these two years.
