Talk:Escort carrier

The Storm commando escort carrier is a different ship. The stormcommando escort carrier is well-armed for its size (2 heavy turbolasers at least on the top) then another dozen? light laser cannons on the underside, plus enough space for 1-2 (liekly more) TIE squadrons. It is rarely seen, unless with storm commandoes.

- Could you provide a source? Admiral J. Nebulax 00:42, 21 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I don't have a source. It's different. One is uded by the Storm Commandoes and is rarely seen, whle the other one is seem a lot. Look at it, those are 2 different types of ships. 68.78.154.181 20:48, 28 January 2006
- Yes, it's obvious just by looking at them that the Storm Commando escort carrier is an entirely different ship. There is no structural similarity at all, so they have to be different classes rather than one simply being a "variant". 68.47.234.131 04:17, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- We should probably move the bit about the Storm Commando ship to an article at "Escort Carrier (Storm Commandos)" or "Storm Commando Escort Carrier". Unfortunately I don't have Rebel Strike, but just from the picture it shares no similarities with the KDY Escort Carrier except a similar role. —Darth Culator (talk) 05:00, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- Storm Commando Escort Carrier would be the best. Admiral J. Nebulax 12:42, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

- The Escort Carrier carriesa full wing of Tie Fighters (72) not 60
(Source: *Star Wars: Rebellion (video game))
- Let's see the source for 60 first. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:04, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- The Imperial Sourcebook is the origin of the Escort Carrier, and it says the ESC carries a "full wing" (which is established elsewhere to be 72 fighters). Later WEG publications back this up and state the 72 fighter number more specifically (including the Revised Gamemaster Screen and the DarkStryder adventure book). At some point the 60 fighter number crept in, possibly from an X-wing series computer game (XvT says the ESC "Carries an entire wing of up to 60 starfighters," and XWA restates this, but since a wing is supposed to be 72 this might be an error). I think the latest printed source would be Starships of the Galaxy, which says "for support missions, the escort usually carries sixty TIE fighters." The use of the word "usually" makes it unclear if this was meant to be an upper limit. The absolute latest source I can find is Jedi Counseling 55, which goes back to a limit of 72. So I think 72 fighters and 6 shuttles is the safest number. —Darth Culator (talk) 20:56, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:57, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Storm Commando Escort Carrier
Edit
- I think this should be separated into its own article. It's way too different to be called a mere "variant." JimRaynor55 00:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Notice the top of this talk page. An article still needs to be made. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 00:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'd do it myself, but I don't have the game and don't like writing an article based on second-hand information. —Darth Culator (talk) 02:11, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- So, could anyone do it? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 02:31, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Looking at the name, I think Escort Carrier (Storm Commando) would be better, seeing as the other would be slapped with a "conjecture" tag. As for who should do it, it won't be me, since I have no experience with the game where its seen or described. VT-16 12:47, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Same with me. We'll need someone with the game and information on it to do it. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 13:14, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'll do it. I've played through the game about 10 times! :D But, I think something like Combat escort carrier would be better.--User:Bly1993/sig
- Well, let's see what others think. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Storm Commando Escort Carrier (Length)
Edit
The article on the Combat Escort Carrier says the ship is 600 meters long. I think this should be changed to something around 200 or 300 meters. I own Rebel Strike and in the game, which is it's only appearance, the ship is just barely twice the size of the Rebel Medium Transport, which is 90 meters long. Because of the smaller size, the Combat Escort Carrier should be described in the article as being able to carry 1 squadron of TIE Fighters. I know from playing the game that the ship definetly launches no more than 12 TIEs.
- It's probably due to in-game play—a factor that tends to go against canon. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Merge
Edit
I think we should merge Escort Carrier and Combat Escort Carrier
-- Captain Neo Exelor (Rebel Command Tactical Communication Link)
- Um, no. They were once in the same article, which was wrong because they are separate craft. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Yes, but they are the same type in essence. You only would have to assume in the Empire's huge fleet of millions of ships and ship types, they would have another combat escort carrier? Escort Carrier is not a vehicle, its a vehicle type. -- Captain Neo Exelor (Rebel Command Tactical Communication Link)
- Except this escort carrier is a ship, not a type of ship. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Upon initiating a space battle over Corellia during a time when Colonel Veers just happened to be in orbit, I noticed that his icon was associated with a ship that looked very much like the one in this article. Eh? --School of Thrawn 101 09:56, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
