Talk:3PO-series protocol droid

I'm trying to find the proper name for this series. The best I can do is "3PO Human-Cyborg Relations Droid". Does anyone have one of the old West End droid books? --SparqMan 15:05, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- That's what about it says in my 2nd ed. copy of the Main Book - "Cybot Galactica 3P0 Human-Cyborg Relations Droid." Yes, that's a zero rather than an O. — Silly Dan 15:18, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Merge?
Edit
We have two 3PO pages: this one and 3PO-series. Which should be the correct page?
- May I suggest moving to 3PO-series protocol droid once the merge is done? Admiral J. Nebulax 19:36, 22 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I'd rather we used '-series' designations for all droid models (so instead of the pointless R2 (Droid series), we'd use R2-series astromech droid) - Kwenn

First picture
Edit
- thats not c-3po but the caption says it is, it looks more like Squeky, quatermaster of wraith squadron. somebody want to shed some light on this? Ugluk 00:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- That is C-3PO. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- I dont see how a glare would only affect the regions that its affecting. Ugluk 02:14, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's C-3PO. Enough already. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Well there it is the all mighty Jack Nebulax has spoken. C-3PO is now gold and silver i will make a note of it. Ugluk 02:14, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Why can't you just realize it's a simple glare? You can tell by looking at certain spots that it's a glare because you can see gold on the same section. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- either somebody has retouched that image or it is the least-regular glare pattern i have ever seen.Ugluk 02:14, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

- Check the C-3PO page of the SW Visual Dictionary. Look familiar? Thought so - Kwenn 19:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ugluk, what is your problem? Why couldn't you just say "Okay, thanks" when I told you it was a glare? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

TC Series
Edit
Well, I'm wandering: Is TC - 14 a 3PO droid? I know that, TC is other series of droids, but.... they look very similar... Someone know something about it? --85.128.38.226 22:35, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- The TC-series protocol droids, also known as TC 3PO-series protocol droids, are basically the same. There's a difference, but I don't have time to search it up in The New Essential Guide to Droids. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- From what I've been able to gather (and I may be wrong, if so then could someone correct me) about 80 years after the 3PO-series was invented they were updated with the (then) state-of-the-art TranLang III Communications module and the ones produced after that renamed as the TC-series. Of course since alot of 3PO-Series droids are equiped with the TranLang III Communications module I assume either alot of 3PO-series droid owners modified them to have it, or the TC-series name was chaned back to the 3PO-series (presumely for brand loyalty reasons). 137.44.1.200 00:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Cybot Galactica liked to use special showcase models to introduce new features; these models would be retired in a comparatively short time, and their features would be added to the mainline 3PO model. The TC, as you suggest, introduced the TranLang III, only to later be retired, with their trademark TranLang III module becoming standard on the regular 3PO unit. jSarek 10:51, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Change of Main image
Edit
So, I want to know if anyone agrees with me over changing the main image. I feel that since this is an article on Generic 3POs droids, then it should bear a generic 3PO image, instead of the more recognizable C-3PO. That's what I think at least.
I managed to get this little pic:
Do you think it would make a good infobox image? Carlitos Moff 05:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- I wonder if we could get an image of C-3PO and E-3PO in the same shot? There's a great pic of that sort in the Star Wars Sourcebook, but it's in black and white . . . perhaps there's a color version of it somewhere? jSarek 12:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Okay... it's been almost a week now, and nobody seems to be in disagreement with this so... I am going to just change the image an see what happens. Carlitos Moff 03:04, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
