Breath ControlEdit

Why do Jedi need to use these when they can use the Breath Control power? Have the Jedi forgotten how to use breath control by the time of TPM? Unsigned comment by 71.192.114.246 (talk • contribs).

  • I don't know when and who wrote that, but here is the answer: Breath Control is game mechanisms. - TopAce (Talk) 18:24, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
    • No. Breath Control is not a game mechanic. It is a sanctioned Force-Technique.

Remember when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's ship exploded and the room was flooded with gas? They utilised the Breath Control technique to stay alive. The reason they didn't use Breath Control when swimming beneath the waters of the Naboo lake was because to get to Otoh Gunga, they had to travel several yards underneath the surface. When you travel that deep, you have to have the oxygen in your body constantly regulated. If they held their breath when constantly traveling lower and lower, their lungs would burst from the gathering pressure inside them. In this way, they have to use the Breather to constantly balance the oxygen flow in their blood and lungs.

TopAce, you might want to research your Star Wars information a bit more in depth, in the future. --The truth hurts... 00:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Pressure

Actually, they probably had to swim considerably more than "several yards" to get to Otoh Gunga, and that required the use of an aquata breather. BTW, air expansion is not an issue in free-diving; the danger of explosion comes if you are breathing pressurized air at depth and then ascend without breathing out to keep your lungs from overinflating (the bends - another pressure-related diving issue - is not generally a problem with free divers either). Speaking of pressure, the article mentions using the aquata breather in space; I would think explosive decompression would be an issue here. Is there any instance in the movies or the Expanded Universe of a character using an aquata breather in a vacuum? Larry660 00:42, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
