All I can say is holy sith! That's alot of articles we still haven't created yet. -- Riffsyphon1024 23:41, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Can we place the Redlinks template on here? It basically has the most on the wiki for any given page and would help users find it. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:37, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Merge?[]

  • There's already an article on A Guide to the Star Wars Universe that covers this. Should this not be merged with that one? Or are we planning on providing separate articles for all three editions? If so, is this going to be a special circumstance, or are we going to have to create separate articles for all works with more than one edition? jSarek 10:07, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

alphabetical listing[]

This page currently lists every entry in the book twice: once in a categorized list (using the same categories as the book) and once in an alphabetical list. (It lists them all three times if you count the standard Wookieepedia Appearances section. But that section contains additional entries; the two lists in the main body have identical content, just ordered differently.)

On paper, an alphabetical list is vital: it's the mechanism for looking up something by name. In an electronic document, an alphabetical list is inessential: software lets you search for any arbitrary string.

In the case of this rather unwieldy page, the alphabetical list goes from merely inessential to cumbersome:

  • for readers, even with most of the letters enclosed in scroll boxes, this section takes up about 30% of the page's considerable real estate without adding any extra value;
  • for editors, it requires more maintenance and introduces more chances of discrepancies, which already exist between the two lists.

So my inclination is to delete the alphabetical list entirely, but I'm asking here to see if anyone can cite a utility the alphabetical list provides that cannot be accomplished with a browser's search facility. Asithol (talk) 20:56, May 3, 2018 (UTC)

Per the reasoning above, and in absence of any arguments to the contrary, I've removed the alphabetical listing. Asithol (talk) 22:18, April 3, 2019 (UTC)
