[edit] 3-eyes?
In close-up photos it looks like the Acklay has a third eye (in far shots it could be mistaken for nostrils), but some illustrations overlook that detail.Tocneppil 18:58, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's really weird. You're right, it does look like it has a third eye, especially in that close-up movie still. But it doesn't look like it they even kept it that way throughout the whole moie, let alone in EU. Maybe that was a concept they threw out after they'd already finished some shots?Darth Ceratis 18:22, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I can't see George letting that slip by in the movie (he pretty much approves all designs through several phases of development), more likely is that the small size of the third eye caused it to be overlooked by the EU editors.Tocneppil 08:37, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- It would seem sloppy, but not entirely impossible. Maybe this isn't even meant to be an eye, maybie it's some other sort of sensory organ like a heat sensor or a tympanic membrane.Darth Ceratis 19:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Some varieties of reptile have a light detection organ on their forehead that may be the basis for this given the acklay's quasi-reptilian traits. Sochwa 08:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Battlefront II
Where does the Acklay appear on Battlefront II? User: Countalucard 13:29, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Felucia.Sith-venator
"Rise of the Empire" mode. One of the first planets you go to is Felucia. However, you don't encounter acklays in Instant Action or Galactic Conquest modes.--Darkforcerising 47 16:41, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Acklay sub species
The acklay was known to be imported to many worlds, but it also adapted to a new planet. In BattleFront 2, the acklays on Felucia were very weak, and about 15 DC 15 rifle rounds were lethal. This was the Felucian Acklay, which did not adapt very well to the planet. As a result, they were weaker tan other types. There was also the Common Vendaxan Acklay, like in Legacy- Broken and Attack of the Clones. Also known was the Mutant Acklay, born wnen the Ebon Sea of Geonosis was contaminated. They were shipped to the Geonosian Bio-Lab on Yavin 4. They were tested and considered for use in Petranki Arena. But the lab's bad condition caused disguise equipment to break. The Blak Mutant Acklays escaped, establishing a tiny population on the moon.
[edit] Sentiency
Acklays are non-sentient? I would think they were because in Battlefront 2, when the acklays attack, they will always head for you. But if a clone trooper flanks it and pulls off a shot or two, the acklay will instantly turn around and attack its largest impending threat. How about Episode 2. If the acklay was non-sentient, it would turn around and maul the animals next to it, rampage around the arena, and possibly destroy the entire compound. But instead, it went straight for Obi-Wan. If the mutant acklays escaped from the Geonosian Bio-Labs, it would have to have been intelligent enough. The staff couldn't have been dumb enough to leave vicious mutant carnivorous predators is a weak cage right next to a door, could they?--Darkforcerising 47 16:50, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- The BFII situation is simply game mechanics. As for the part in AotC, they do go for the nearest animals but they direct it towards Obi-Wan. I don't think that the stop-the-thing-that-is-trying-to-kill-you behaviour implies Star Wars sentience, just instinct I think. Nayayen

[edit] Question
on all the other sites it clearly states that the Acklay is crustacean with 3 eyes and can come out of water to hunt for prey.—Unsigned comment by 121.209.34.12 (talk • contribs).
