[edit] Capitalise or not?
- TopAce recently went to the trouble of putting a lot of ranks into lower case on this page. Is there any consensus on what way they should be? --McEwok 20:21, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, if it refers to a rank, it's lower case. (An admiral was a title...), but if it refers to a specific person, then it's in capitals. (Admiral Ackbar was an admiral...); (Grievous was badly damaged, but the General was healed.) That's the way I know it, it might be something else in case of vice or rear admiral, but if it's just a single word, not a compound (commander, captain, admiral), then it words the way I did it. - TopAce 20:24, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think it should be like this: Capitalized when referring to a specific admiral (Admiral Ackbar) and lowercase when it's not. For Vice and Rear Admiral, I think they should be capitalized because they are different forms of the rank of admiral. The same would go for Lieutenant Colonel. Usually, I tend to put them always capitalized, but I'm pretty sure I've been doing it incorrectly. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- It's something like what I said save for the Vice Admiral part, you seem to be more certain of it. - TopAce 20:32, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
