Definite Articles
Edit
The following is a direct quote from the Wookieepedia Manual of Style, section 7.1:
"Names of specific spaceships should be:
- Used with the definite article
- e.g.
- "The Thunderflare operated in the Core region."
- NOT "Thunderflare operated in the Core region.""
Once again, the above is the official policy for all articles on this site and is "considered a standard that everyone should follow". If you feel the policy is in error, you can go to the manual of style discussion page and make a proposal to amend it; please do not unilaterally override it in select articles. - I've already done that, and people always claim I'm wrong. But I'm not, because that's how I was taught. "The" is not to be used in front of ship names. Just because the Manual of Style says something doesn't mean it's right. Don't revert it again. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Yes, sir. If you wish to flout the entire community, that is your business. I have shown you the precise spot in which you are violating Wiki rules three times, and further revert wars are not an expedient use of my time. DarthSanctimonious 16:30, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- And I have said that the rules are wrong. I have every right to correct English grammar, even if it violates the Manual of Style. Furthermore, do not treat me as if I am a vandal. I have been here longer than you, and I am well aware of the rules and the consequences I may face for doing what needs to be done. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Wow, talk about impolite. So by your logic, we should be able to change what we deem to be incorrect spellings (i.e. from American to International English) if we so wish. Because why follow the rules when we can make things what we perceive to be right? Melda 22:15, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

- I've wondered about this for some time now, where does it say that shipnames are treated like a regular person's name. Any grammar links? VT-16 09:04, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

- I see. Because there's articles on the net that either follows 'the' rule or 'singular name' rule. It's hard to tell which one's more correct. I guess it's like saying "the tiger ate the tourist", but if the tiger's called "Harold", it's "Harold ate the tourist", not "the Harold ate the tourist". :P VT-16 14:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- See? It doesn't make sense. I don't know why people think that "the" should be used before ship names when it goes against proper American English grammar which, last time I checked, we used. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Yes, if a ship is given a name then it seems reasonable to say "the light aircraft carrier Invincible", not "the Invincible". And when it does something or something happens to it, it would be "Invincible takes a hit", or "Invincible changed its course". VT-16 08:39, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly. No "the". Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Using "the" in front of a ship's name is actually stressed in some texts, where not using it is actually poor grammar. Also, you note that is sounds odd if put in front of some ship names. To many, neglecting "the" sounds just as odd.--Captain Ghost 03:14, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Imperial--II?
Edit
Do any of the novels specifically refer to Anakin Solo as an Imperial II-class? Best as I recall, it's just classified as Imperial-class, but I may be wrong. --Danik Kreldin 05:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Since it is and Imperial II class, then since the Anakin Solo doesn't have a picture just get a pictur of the imperial II and put it as an image. -Colonel Solo

SSD Anakin Solo???
Edit
On page 365 of Sacrifice, the heading is CAPTAIN'S DAY CABIN, SSD ANAKIN SOLO.
What does the SSD stand for? The only thing I know is Super Star Destroyer, but it isn't? Jamie550 21:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

how can they make such a mistake at the end of the novel?? I believe he must have christened a new super star destroyer the anakin solo or something. Mathieu121 17:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- You forget the author of this particular work...Kuralyov 17:55, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
true, but we would always like to hope he commanded a super star destroyerMathieu121 18:11, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's a typo, not a Super Star Destroyer. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

it is not an Super Star Destroyer because in Invincible (novel) it is said that it is smaller then the Megador which is a SSD Sicke 03:39, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
That title picture should be removed, the Solo was solid black per description yet in the picture it's normal star destroyer gray.
