First name vs. lastEdit

Is there any particular reason that a Featured Article has the subject character referred to by first name as opposed to last through out the entire article? I can possibly understand in sections when other Sunriders(family) are mentioned(though shouldn't they be the ones using their first names?), but not the bulk of it.
