Macross
Edit
Hey, nice observation there. I'm a fan of Macross myself, but the parallels never occurred to me. KEJ 06:19, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I just finished watching the original series and accidently saw the name on the new article. The area where the city is located also reminds me of the impact crater where the SDF-1 crashes at the beginning of the story. [1] VT-16 17:36, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, a coincidence? I think not ;-) KEJ 17:45, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- That makes two anime references that I know of (first one was the Bakura-class destroyer and a ship in Gundam). VT-16 09:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting. so, the influence works both ways, huh. The megaweapon-thing in Appleseed was deliberately made to look like a probe droid. KEJ 09:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Really? Cool! The new 3D animated CW series will probably bridge the two even further, from what they've been saying. Will be nice to see. Oh, and Gainax once made introduction videos for the Daicon sci-fi/anime conventions back in the early 1980s, you'll see some familiar things: Video IVideo II VT-16 21:39, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- I should mention that it's in the old Appleseed, and I only noticed the resemblance because I had the commentary track turned on, and they mentioned the connection with probe droids. I haven't seen the new digital one yet so I don't know what it looks like in that one. As to the CW-series, it is also influenced by anime to a certain degree. That's at least what Lucas says in some of the extra material. He also says he likes anime. KEJ 10:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, and that the new CW series is his little foray into anime, using both eastern and western styles. I'm almost looking more forward to it than the eventual live-action series. VT-16 17:52, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
